Website Technician
These Website responsibilities are currently assigned to the Deputy Clerk position.
- Is responsible for all technical issues related to the initial development, implementation, and ongoing operation of the Website.
- Serves as project manager for the initial design and implementation of the redesigned Website and for future upgrades.
- Ensures that the Website maintains compliance with accessibility standards.
- Reviews and approves the use of animated images on the Website.
- Maintains the master list of approved Website users, assigns passwords for web access, and enables the security level of access (view, modify, delete, add) authorized for each user.
- Trains Department Web Coordinators in the use of the web-based content management system, provides general technical support, and hosts periodic user group meetings.
- Serves as the central point of contact for technical problems or issues. As necessary, works with the Website design consultant or the hosting firm to resolve problems.
- Monitors on a regular basis the space used by Website content and graphics and reports to the Website Administrator any potential problems with the overall size or bandwidth usage of the Website.
- Arranges for general photographs and graphics to be used on the Website and assists departments with the same for their web pages.
- Assists in the review of questionable content, requests for links to external websites, and requests from community organizations to post events on the community calendar.
- Produces a monthly statistical summary for the Website.
- Tracks industry trends related to municipal websites and identifies new technologies or techniques that could improve the Website.
