Noteworthy Cases
02-07-2012 Officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of Spartan Drive for a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and learned to victim had locked herself in a room to avoid the suspect. Officers eventually arrested a male subject for domestic related disorderly conduct. While taking the suspect into custody, he began to fight with the officers. The suspect was also charged with resisting arrest.
02-11-2012 An officer stopped a vehicle for a routine traffic violation. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence-1st offense. There were several other occupants in the vehicle who were underage and also under the influence of alcohol. While processing the OWI case, it was learned the driver lied about his identity. The driver was also charged with obstructing an officer, underage alcohol consumption, operating without insurance, unregister vehicle, and a probation violation. There were a total of fourteen citations written to the driver and occupants during the traffic stop.
02-13-2012 Officers responded to the High School for a disturbance in the lunch room area. Officers contacted several people who were involved in a physical altercation. One subject was charged with battery after striking the victim in the face.
02-16-2012 An officer stopped a vehicle for a routine traffic violation. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and eventually arrested. The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence-2nd offense, prohibited alcohol concentration, operating after suspension, and bail jumping. The driver had a .22 blood alcohol concentration which is almost three times the legal limit.
02-25-2012 Officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Erling Avenue for a disturbance inside the business. Officers arrived and made contact with the victim. The victim stated he was taking pictures of the smoking structure of the business when he was confronted by a customer. The customer became verbally abusive toward the victim and took his cell phone from him and threw it at a wall. The suspect was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.
02-29-2012 Officers were dispatched to the 6100 block of South Court for a vehicle partially in someone’s yard and the driver under the influence of alcohol. Officers made contact with the driver and eventually arrested him for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence-1st offense. During a search of the vehicle, the officer found drug paraphernalia and a syringe that contained a liquid. The liquid was tested and found to have the presence of heroin. The driver was also charged with prohibited alcohol concentration, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
